In 2024, the WNBA debuted its first specially designed All-Star court in Phoenix. The project centered on building a cohesive visual system that unified league branding with the host city’s identity. Designed for a national broadcast audience, the court prioritizes legibility, contrast, and visual impact across in-arena and televised experiences.

The Process

The design explores geometric forms, vibrant color, and the expressive qualities of the 2024 All-Star brand identity. Layouts extend across the full court, pushing elements sideline to sideline to maximize visual impact. Details were introduced with intention to enhance depth while maintaining broadcast clarity.

The Details

The design incorporates layered historical and contextual details tied to the 2024 season, including the 2024 Olympics in Paris and USA Women’s Basketball gold medal years. Additional references include past All-Star Games hosted in Phoenix and each WNBA team represented along the halfcourt sidelines. The all-time All-Star Game roster is embedded within the keys, with former MVPs highlighted for emphasis.

Results

The 2024 WNBA All-Star Game marked a historic moment for the league, drawing a record-breaking 3.44M viewers. With one of the largest audiences in WNBA history, the court design needed to reflect that scale, elevating the visual identity to match the spotlight.
